Trying to shop for gifts during a pandemic can be challenging. While most gift stores are open for curbside pickup, or online ordering, it’s just not the same as shopping in person. For Mother’s Day this year, I enlisted the fine folks at the General Store of Minnetonka to curate a gift for my mother-in-law. If you have never been to the store off of highway 7, you should stop in when they open up again. The multi-story building is filled with gifts and home decor items. It’s where I finally found the perfect Minnesotan gifts to send back to Spain with our teaching intern. There is a cafe and bistro located on site, making it a perfect place to meet up with friends and do a little shopping!

If you’re looking for a gift for Mother’s day, a graduate, teachers, or Father’s Day, you should head over to the website and purchase a Surprise Box. There are different price points available, from $50 to $200. You fill out an online form sharing information about the recipient. Do they have a favorite color or hobby? Dislike a certain scent or have a food allergy? You can even shop their extensive jewelry selection via FaceTime or texting.
You can pick up the box at the store, or have it shipped directly to your recipient. Liz was so nice to work with, answering all my questions and ultimately handpicking a Surprise Box to my specifications. Check out the General Store the next time you need a gift!
